Snapshots from abroad: Calendar captures student experiences

It’s enough to inspire anyone to pack their bags.

The Global Learning & Intercultural Support team in the Studio has released its 2019 Study Abroad Photo Calendar, featuring photos and anecdotes from Saint Mary’s students who traveled the world through international learning programs.

The photos were collected through the 12th Annual Study Abroad Photo Contest held in November 2018.

The calendar also showcases the wide range of international learning opportunities available through Saint Mary’s, including exchange programs in Japan, Germany, China, Australia, Scotland, and Norway; the Summer Language Programs in France, China and Ireland; the Geography Field Course in The Gambia, and the Master of Management Cooperatives and Credit Unions (MMCCU) Study Tour in Italy.

The Vice-President Academic and Research International Mobility Awards provide financial support for students who travel overseas for academic experiences. Those awards have supported 50-80 Saint Mary’s students annually since the 2003-04 academic year.

“We hope that that these images inspire our community and further foster a culture of international learning,” says Miyuki Arai, Acting Program Manager, International Activities. “We encourage all students to take advantage of these opportunities to help foster a deep understanding and genuine curiosity about our local and global community.”
